Webinar Information for President's Executive Order 13607
The Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and Education, in conjunction with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission, conducted three webinars to discuss Executive Order 13607-- Establishing Principles of Excellence for Educational Institutions Serving Service Members, Veterans, Spouses, and Other Family Members. The Executive Order is designed to enhance resources and support available to Service members and Veteran's using military tuition assistance, veteran's benefits and other federal benefits to pursue a higher education. Additionally, the Executive Order (EO) encourages agencies to expand oversight activities to better address student concerns, and ensure that students receive quality educational opportunities in exchange for their Federal education benefits. The EO also challenges agencies to learn more about the students they serve through outcome measures that can inform future initiatives. To watch to the webinar please go to: Executive Order 13607. DoD Voluntary Education Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
The quality of education received by our service members is very important to the Defense of Department (DoD). To ensure all Service members participating in off-duty, postsecondary education programs are provided quality education programs uniformly, the DoD Voluntary Education Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was established as part of the revised DoD Instruction (DoDI) 1322.25, Voluntary Education Programs. The new Partnership MOU conveys the commitments and agreements between the educational institution and DoD. For additional information, visit the DoD MOU summary page. To begin the DoD MOU application process, proceed directly to the DoD MOU website.
The Department of Defense completed a 90-day extension today for implementation of a policy requiring schools to have a signed DoD Tuition Assistance Program Memorandum of Understanding in order to participate in the Tuition Assistance program. Access the notice here.
The DoD Worldwide Education Symposium and Expo (WW12) was held July 23 through, July 27, 2012, at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. This triennial symposium was very well attended and provided the opportunity for education professionals from the federal government, institutions of higher learning, and the educational support community to exchange information to ensure Service members received quality education through the Tuition Assistance portion of the Voluntary Education Program.
